thinking of studying psychology?

If you are, then I am here to tell you what a good idea that is and to try to let you see why I think so............
while psychology as a discipline is a fairly new baby as compared to the other sciences , it has had an impact in quite a lot of fields recently and what is more is that it is still growing and has such diverse fields that you are never bored and if you persevere you are assured of a job.
one of my professors was telling me that he is involved in the psychology of car design- yes there is such a field and lots of companies like Ford, Ferrari employ cognitive psychologists to help them with their car designs. you know all those sounds you hear when you are driving your car, the engine, the door opening sounds, they have been precisely tempered with by our beloved psychologists to give you the optimum feeling of being in a luxurious car. right now, he is working on the textiles used in cars to see which ones most people want and why and this will further help us to manipulate people to think they have the best car ever...its good to be an engineer, but its much more fun to be a psychologist
what's the point of this??
well to begin with, whatever your passion is, you will find that there is an opening for you in the psychology field. Long gone are those times where psychology was only thought to be a discipline which deals with mentally challenged people....go to Google company, you will find us, hospitals, schools, marketing, politics, public relations, you name it, as long as there is something to do with people there is a psychologist lurking at the background. It is definitely the science of this century and many more diverse fields are springing up and giving us more challenges.
of course the first year of the study is the most boring one as you normally are introduced to almost all the theoretical things about psychology and you never get to do what you really want till later on. you would have to somehow memorise all the names of these old 'giants' of psychology and what they did and thought, but don't lose heart, its only the beginning and after that things simply improve beyond your imagination.
One point though , if you really want to enjoy this subject to the fullest , you have to go beyond a BA, you have to be determined to be fully engrossed in it and you will have to have a desire to pursue your dream. Most people simply take psychology for three or four years and that's it. They always leave when the fun is just starting ....................
